SOUTH BURLINGTON - Roger C. Blanchard, 89, lifetime Vermont resident, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015, at his home in South Burlington. He was born November 21, 1925 in Winooski, the son of Arthur and Yvonne Blanchard. He graduated from Saint Francis elementary school in 1940 and Winooski High School in 1944. Immediately, he enlisted in the US Army and joined the 104th Infantry Division in Belgium. Roger was wounded during battle in Halle, Germany and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Following his service, he received Bachelor's and Master's degrees from St. Michaels College. He worked in secondary education for 34 rewarding years at Greensboro, Winooski, South Burlington, and Burlington High Schools. Roger is survived by his brother Gerald of Williston, sister Claire Langlais of Beekmantown NY, son Mark and wife Dee of Milford NH, daughter-in-law Karen Hershberg of Essex Junction, as well as four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by Ida, his wife of 60 years, and by his son Jeffrey. No memorial services will be held. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences by visiting www.awrfh.com.
