Roger W. Fleury Essex Center Roger W. Fleury passed away Saturday June 11, 2011 after a 2+ year struggle with pancreatic cancer which he handled with dignity, positive attitude and humor. Born in Burlington, VT on June 25, 1958, he was the son of Emily and Harry J. Fleury and now joins them in peace. Roger graduated from Essex High School in 1976 and Vt. Technical College in 1978. Employed at IBM for 31+ years, he worked his way up to advisory engineer and was surrounded by many friends and former classmates. Roger enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and especially his camp in Belvidere where he had maintained a number of special friendships over the years. A fairly quiet guy who had a huge impact on his family from taking care of his daughters, wife and sisters to being the go to guy on the family homestead and if there was ever a friend in need, he was there to help. He will be terribly missed by all. Roger is survived by his wife Kim; daughters Emily Fleury of Portland, OR and Jacqueline Fleury of Jericho; a brother Harry Fleury and his wife Elisabeth of Littleton, CO; sisters Mary Meade and her husband Richard of Blairsville, GA; Joyce Graf of Rockville, MD; Sally Fleury and companion George Burns of Essex Ctr; Linda Fleury of Essex Ctr; sister-in-law Dawn Hill-Fleury of Essex Ctr.; several nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his brother Stanley in 1991 and brother-in-law Robert Graf in 2009. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the entire staff of hematology/oncology at Fletcher Allen for their devotion in the care and comfort of others, a truly unique group of individuals. There will be a brief gathering at the Essex Center Methodist Church followed by a reception on the lower level at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
