Roger L. Paquette Winooski Roger Lawrence Paquette went to be with the lord on Thursday February 18, 2016 at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford VT. Roger was born in Winooski on March 4,1938, son of the late Leonard and Pearl (Simmons) Paquette. Roger is survived by his wife of 32 years Sharon Paquette of Winooski, Step Daughter Lori Lowell and husband Rob of Essex Jct., 2 grandchildren Corey Farley and his wife Amber of Milton, Lyndsey O'Brien and husband Timothy of Williston, 5 Great Grandchildren, Cody Mullen , Lilah Farley, Hailey O'Brien, Riley O'Brien, Finnegan O'Brien, a special family friend who was like a son Adam Daudelin, brother-in-law Keith Peters his wife Mary and their sons Andrew & Michael all of Florida. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Mary Peters on Feb 3, 2016 and father-in-law Lewis Peters in 1995. Roger was a man of many talents. You would never see him not working. Roger worked at the Medical Center Hospital in security, St. Michaels College security, Winooski Police and Fire Departments, Chittenden county Sheriffs Department, State of VT Department of Corrections and Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility from 1987 to 1997 as well as a Shelburne Museum trolley driver, a driver with Yellow Cab and a floorman for Wake Robin in Shelburne in his later years. Roger was a lifelong member of the Eagles in Jeffersonville. A member of the Green Mt. Airies and Milton Horseshoe Club. Roger never sat still for long; he always had to stay busy. In later years he and his wife Sharon would travel each fall to their winter home in Zephyr Hills FL. It was here that Roger enjoyed life, playing horseshoes, working around the grounds in the park, telling jokes and just making people smile. When time to come home came around Roger was ready, Vermont was still home. Roger had a love for all things, but mostly horseshoes and NASCAR racing. On any given weekend you would find Roger throwing shoes into the pit or watching a race on TV. Roger’s love for racing was such that he became a NASCAR official and could be found on the race tracks at Catamount, Thunder Road and many other places in his younger years, his love for racing was immense. There were not many times when you would find Roger doing nothing, he was always busy. He loved to detail cars and had a small following of people who he would wash and wax their cars to a mirror shine. Roger loved making people smile and would go out of his way to offer a hand to anyone that needed it. He loved life, his grandchildren, family and friends. We the family would like to thank the staff at "Our Lady of the meadows staff for their time and caring of Roger. We would also like to thank Renee Begnoche for watching over Roger in his last few months. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 26, 2016 at St. Stephens Church, Winooski at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the VFW Winooski Post #1767, 6 Maple Street, Winooski (corner of Main & Maple). Inurnment will be in the Spring at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Roger’s memory may be made to Chittenden County Sheriffs Office, PO Box 1426, Burlington, VT 05402, for the training of a new dog.
