Ruth Burgess

RUTH ORR BURGESS UNDERHILL CENTER Ruth Orr Burgess passed away Jan. 7, 2013, at the Green Mountain Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Randolph, VT, daughter of the late Don and Florence Orr of Vershire, VT. Ruth and her husband, Larry Burgess, just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Dec. 27th. They have been residents of Underhill Center since 1947. Ruth loved her home and relished her view of Mt Mansfield. She was proud to be a 1942 graduate of UVM. Ruth was a teacher in the area and her last 25 years were in Essex Ctr. In addition to her husband, she leaves her children Richard Burgess of Underhill Center, Sharon Schriber of Underhill Center, Judy Burgess Strobel of South Burlington, Nancy Rice of Williston, and Pam Blum of Underhill Center along with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth also leaves her sisters Theo Howe of Quechee, Theda Hurtubise of South Burlington, and brother Conrad Orr of Orwell. Ruth sadly had been predeceased in 1958 by her beloved son Steven and brother Charles Orr in 2011. The family welcomes friends to a visiting time on Jan. 13 from 1 to3 pm at the Underhill Town Hall.
