Thomas Longe Fairfax, Vermont Obituary

Thomas Longe

Thomas R. Longe 66 of So. Burlington died peacefully after a short fight with lung cancer. He kept the fight to himself and didn't want to burden his family with his illness. In his last hours he felt and heard our love for him in many different ways. Aside from any differences or distances he knew he was well loved by all and will be dearly missed! Tommy as we all called him was born on May 22, 1949 to Raymond and Elizabeth Warner Longe. He attended Burlington High and he served in the Air National Guard he made parachutes and packed them on planes and coordinated testing of those parachutes to make sure they were safe. He received an award with 2 other colleagues for helping to invent a device that helped to improve the safety of the parachute. He loved what he did but due to health issues with his heart he received an Honorable Discharge only shy of 3 years into his service. He continued to sew and paint for a living following his discharge. He raced at Thunder Road a few times enjoyed Nascar racing and many events that had to do with the Air Force and Army alike. He loved gardening and cooking! Antiques and flea markets, old cars and various other hobbies also were a joy to him. Hopefully you can share if you remember some of those things he liked to do. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Ann her husband Buddy and his grandson Aaron from Atlanta Georgia, Son Thomas Parizo from Concord, NH. Brothers Steve wife Rebecca from Shelburne, Larry wife Carol from Essex, sisters Sandra from Essex and Susie from Richmond. nieces Lisa, Brandi, Trina, nephews Sean, George, Josh, Devin, Nigel and Eli. He has a great niece Olivia and great great nieces and nephews. If I have forgotten anyone please forgive me it's not intentional. He is predeceased by his Mother Elizabeth and his Father Raymond (Sonny Boy) his Brother Richard and his nephew Andrew. We will be having a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 at Holy Cross Church in Colchester.
