Cecile Thibault Young Obituary

CECILE YOUNG - BURLINGTON - Cecile Young, 83, passed suddenly on Nov. 19, 2014, and began her journey with the Lord. She was born in Winooski to Herve and Robella (Ruel) Thibault on June 25, 1931, and grew up working on her parent's family farm among her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949 and met her husband, Richard Young from Richmond, shortly thereafter at a barn dance and they were married on June 11, 1955. Cecile retired in 1993 from Mary Fletcher after 30 years of service to spend more time with her husband, who also had retired, and they enjoyed many years traveling. A devoted catholic, Cecile was a member of St. Marks and Christ the King Parish. She is fondly remembered for singing "Happy Birthday" to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others at the top of her beautiful voice. Cecile's favorite song to sing was "The Old Grey Mare" which brought smiles to all those who loved to hear her sing. Adored by many with a great sense of humor and wit and a special knack for making everyone feel loved, Cecile was the life of the party. She loved parties and family gatherings and shared many good ole belly laughs with us all. Cecile was known fondly for her blue eyes and strong will and not shy to tell it like it is. There is only one Cecile many would say and God certainly broke the mold when he created her. Survived by her husband, Dick of 59 years; and their seven children: daughters, Kathi, and Lisa and her husband, Richard Gravel, and her sons, Rick and his wife, Judy, Bernie and his wife, Karyl, Tom and his wife, Jennifer, Mark and his wife, Lisa, and Alan and his partner, Simone; 14 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. Cecile is also survived by her sister, Fleurette Romprey; brother, Andre Thibault and his wife, Gisele; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Thibault, Roseanne Thibault, and Pat Thibodeau; brothers-in-law, Larry and Charlene, Raymond and Jean, Harold, Ed and Robert Young; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. She was predeceased by both her parents; and brothers, Gerard, Charlie, Ulysses, Adrien, Real, and Claude Thibault. Calling hours are Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., in Winooski, from 1 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church on North Avenue in Burlington. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.lavignefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association Vermont Affiliate, 77 Hegeman Ave., Colchester, VT 05446.
