SISTER DORIS GASTONGUAY - WINOOSKI - Sister Doris Gastonguay, 81, passed away on July 5, 2015, at Our Lady of Providence Residence in Winooski. Doris was born on Sept. 27, 1933, to parents Adrian and Juliana (Lussier) Gastonguay. She received her teacher's diploma in Ottawa, and later went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Wichita, Kan. Throughout her religious profession, Doris spent 40 wonderful years serving as a missionary in Africa by teaching and pastoral work. She was a member of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa since 1954. Since her return to Winooski in 2004, she was happy to help out in the library at St. Francis Xavier School. Doris is survived by her sister, Pauline Gastonguay, a member of the same congregation, based in Beauport, Quebec, Canada; and her brother, Paul Gastonguay and his wife, Jean, of Euclid, Ohio; as well as a few nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Our Lady of Providence Residence in Winooski. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will follow in the Missionary Sisters' plot at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., in Winooski.
