Edward Raymond Obituary

EDWARD D. RAYMOND - BURLINGTON - Ed Raymond, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away on Feb. 26, 2015, after a remarkable 105 years of health and wellness. Ed was born in Colchester on Jan. 29, 1910, the son of Victor and Martha (Hoose) Raymond. He was predeceased by all eight of his brothers and sisters, William, Victor, Rena (Sweet), Bessie (Fortin), Mildred (Seymour), Carrie (Dorey), Elanor (Bara), and Edna Raymond; and his daughter, Margaret Tootill. Ed lived a good, long life and saw the world around him change so much through the years. A few things that never changed were his need to keep busy, his love of hidden word puzzles, and his commitment to hard work. Ed's last job was working for Ray's Seafood, a local Burlington business owned by his niece, Hazel Dunkling. Ed delivered seafood each and every day until he was 92. Driving was his passion, and when he could no longer drive he enjoyed long rides just as much, right up until the day he passed. We knew him as Ed, or Dad, or Gramps, or Uncle Ed, but regardless of what we called him we all knew him to be a quiet man who, in his own opinion, lived to achieve his Centenarian status by "minding his own business." Though a man of few words, we all knew how much he loved his family and loved the life he had been blessed with. Ed is survived by his son, Wayne LaBonte Sr. and his wife, Donna; son, Kevin Raymond; grandchildren, Allyson Tootill and Mike, Wendi LaBonte-Dusablon and Landis Beyor, Wayne LaBonte Jr. and his wife, Micky LaBonte, Kristy Raymond, and Cheyanne Cardinal; and great-grandchildren, Libby Dusablon, Collin Beyor, Tyler and Kacey LaBonte, and Zach, Zane, and Zoe Cardinal. We will all miss you dearly. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., with prayer services beginning at 2 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A graveside service, with military honors to be accorded Mr. Raymond, will follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburgh Avenue in Burlington.
