In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 2, 2016, Joey died unexpectedly at his home in Grand Isle. He was 61 years old.<br><br>Born in Colchester, VT on September 22, 1954, he was the son of Leo and the late Grace (Taylor) Giroux. He was a graduate of Winooski High School. Joey started young learning the building trades going to the job sites with his father. He worked for several companies honing his skills before starting his own business. In all his business endeavors he took great pride in providing quality craftsmanship to his customers. Later in his career he went on to become a Master Plumber further adding to his repertoire of skills. With his blues music on the radio, he was never happier than when he was working, building and creating beautiful spaces for his customers.<br><br>Joey loved hunting, snowmobiling, and spending time with his wife and best friend of 15 years, Judie Wilson who survives him.<br><br>Joey is also survived by his two children, Amber and Nathan Giroux of Burlington and their mother, Linda; his father, Leo Giroux and companion Billie of Bradenton, Florida; four sisters, Darlene Nelligan of Williston, Cissie (Christian) Deane of Essex Junction, Happy (Mickey) Dattilio of Essex Junction, and Mikie (Gaston) Santerre of Carlsbad, CA; two brothers, Peter (Moya) Giroux of Atlanta, GA, and Patrick (Jeanne) Giroux of Palmetto, FL; sister-in-law, Tracy Giroux of North Hero, and brother-in-law, Brian Nelligan. He is also survived by Judie's sisters, Meg Wilson and daughters Alyssa and Olivia of Contoocook, NH, and Dori Tilles of Penacook, NH and son Jake of Concord, MA. In addition, he leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins as well as by his loving companion, Biscuit, the little dog who brought so much joy to his life.<br><br>Joey was predeceased by his mother Grace (Taylor) Giroux in November, 1996 and by his younger brother James "Jimmy" Giroux in February, 2009.<br><br>Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main Street, Winooski, VT 05404. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Joey's memory may be made to Grand Isle Rescue, P.O. Box 79, Grand Isle, VT 05458.
