RITA MABEL ST. GELAIS COLCHESTER - Rita Mabel St. Gelais, 92, a longtime resident of Colchester, died on Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester. Rita was born in Colchester on Nov. 27, 1922, the daughter of Emeric and Alice (Gamelin) St. Gelais. She attended Winooski schools and was employed at the American Woolen Mill prior to caring for her parents. Rita is survived by her brothers and sisters, Leonard, Lucille Butler, Florence (Roger) Thibault, Paul, Alfred, Marion Tremblay, and Irene (George) Demmie; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Ardelle, Robert Butler, Sally, Gert, George (Lola), Lorette (Len) Richer, Theresa Nolin, Shirley (Ed) Blair, and Joseph and Cecile (infants). A special thank you to her devoted nieces, Denise, Kelly, and Cecile. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Green Mountain Nursing Home for their care. Family and friends will gather on Monday, June 29, 2015, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a prayer service beginning at 11 a.m., at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., in Winooski. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Winooski.
