Robert Richard

Robert F. Richard of Colchester passed away on Aug. 7, 2015 at the age of 92, with his loving family by his side. He was born June 26, 1923 in Winooski to Arthur and Elizabeth Richard. In his younger years he worked on various Vermont farms, including farms that he owned. He married the love of his life, Theresa Papillo on February 23, 1952 for 39 years until her death in 1991. He was employed by Thompson Dairy and Borden Inc. as a production worker, while doing carpentry work on the side. He finished his working career at Mary Fletcher Hospital in 1988. Robert enjoyed spending summers at camp on Lake Carmi, going for pleasure rides, gardening, playing cards, horse shoes at camp in Waterbury taking time away from his two jobs to teach his son George the game of baseball at Hawthorne Field in Winooski, and most of all spending time with family. He is survived by his son George, and partner Cindy, his children Christopher and wife Melissa, and Ryan, his daughter Joanne and partner Michael and their children Shaun Robert, Lisa and husband Aaron, Brad and partner Christian, his daughter Maryanne and husband Todd, and their children Brittany and husband Adam, and Robert. His great-grandchildren, Ariana & Estella, Mikayla, Madelyn & Mackenzie, Avery & Nolan Robert- Alan. He is also survived by one brother, Edward (Prop) of Burlington and nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank the VNA of Chittenden County, Our Lady of Providence, all of Bob's camp Friends for their friendship and kindness, and other close family members and friends. Joanne wishes to express her sincere thanks to the Colchester School District and also to the Winooski VFW for hosting the reception following the burial. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday August 12 at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM Thursday August 13 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winooski.
