Floyd Wallop Obituary

Floyd Thomas Wallop, Jr, affectionately known as “Sugarboy,” was born on May 12, 1935, in Horntown, Virginia. He the 3rd of 15 children born to late Floyd, Sr. and Willie Wallop. Floyd was called into eternal rest on August 7, 2017 at home in Horntown, Virginia. Floyd began his education in the Accomack County public school system, but left at an early age to help his parents raise his siblings. He held numerous jobs and nothing was beneath him, as long as he could support his family. He met and married Beulah Dickerson in 1956 and from this union, they had three daughters and five sons. Even though he had been handicapped since 2007, he loved family get togethers and having family and friends visit. He kept a big smile on his face that made you feel loved and welcome. He was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and later joined Deas Chapel United Methodist Church. He maintained his confession of salvation. Floyd leaves to cherish great memories with: his wife, Beulah Wallop; two daughters, Arnette Gaskins and Eunice Wallop; two sons, Floyd Wallop, III and Larry Dickerson, all of Horntown, Virginia; two children whom he raised as his own, Juanita (Bennie) Coleman of Greenbush, Virginia and Hillard Dickerson of Savageville, Virginia; 19 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 2 great–great grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Taylor (William), Jacquelin Miles (Sterling) and Teresa Wallop (Lanny); three brothers, Lawrence Wallop (Betty), Grant Wallop (Linda) and Dale Wallop (Lisa); 3 brothers-in-law; 5 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Elvis Wallop, two great granddaughters, four sisters and four brothers. We had our cup of sorrow, We’ve drunk our cup of joy; But memory is one gift, That death cannot destroy.
