OBITUARY God came and rescued his singing angel named George Andrew Handy, Sr. who was born on June 8, 1940 to the late Sewell and Victoria Handy in Horntown, Virginia. He departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at his loving home in Horntown, Virginia. George received his education at Mary Ann Smith and Horntown Elementary Schools. He was employed at Mountaire, Holly Farms, Tysons and Royal Farms. He will be remembered for his singing and his awesome footwork. A longtime, faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia, George held many titles. He was a Trustee, a member of the Finance ministry, sang on the Senior Choir, a member of the Male Chorus for a decade and recently sang with TLDIC and Pastors Aid Chorus. He was loved by the Nursing Home Ministry and he was also an Usher. George Handy, Sr. also sang with the Hallelujah Gospel Singers. George Handy, Sr. leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving and caring wife of fifty-seven (57) years, Daisey Handy; six (6) children, George (Marshell) Handy, Marcella (Abe) Drummond, Evette (Junie) Handy, Nevon Robinson, Melissa Duffy, Reginald (Faith) Handy, and George (Marshell) Handy; eleven (11) grandchildren, Miracle Handy, Delario Handy, Jamar Handy, Trae Handy, Maleetra Drummond, Renasha Handy, Korshelva Miller, Antoine Miller, Iesha Duffy, Kadeen Duffy and Genera Duffy; seven great grandchildren, Liam Handy, Jakeece Handy, Re`Nya Mills, Jeramiah Lynns, Rehonni Handy, Re`mya Lankford, Rontel Handy; five sisters, Virginia Davis of Horntown, Virginia, Josephine Snead of Stockton, Maryland, Emma Howard and Elsie Handy, both of Pocomoke City, Maryland and Addie Dale of Snow Hill, Maryland; three sisters-in-law, Carol Collins of Delmar , Maryland, Joyce (Lewis) Schoolfield of Salisbury, Maryland and Thelma Brown of Pocomoke, City, Maryland; three brothers-in-law, Grover (Martina) Marshall of Horntown, Virginia, Anthony (Joanne) Allen of Pocomoke and Leroy Marshall of Salisbury, Maryland and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
