“No Farewell words were spoke, No tome to good by Your gone before we knew it and only God knows why You’re safe in the arms of Jesus safe in his gentle breast there by his love you are over shadowed. Sweetly your soul shall rest.” Shirley Mae Onley, was born on March 11, 1945 in Northampton County, Virginia to Louis Onley and the late Flossie Mae Onley. . Shirley was the eldest of four siblings born unto this union, the late Arthur Wayne Onley, Lewis Onley Jr. and Philip Onley. She departed this life on January 27, 2016. She was reared most of her life in Northampton County. She received her high school education in Dover, Delaware where she graduated from William W. M. Henry Comprehensive High School. Shirley worked for Holly Farms/Tysons for over thirty years, upon retiring from this establishment she later became a Teacher’s Assistant with the Northampton County Public School System and then later served as a substitute teacher. Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her twenties and began to faithfully serve and Honor God under the leadership of the late Apostle Leon Williams of Refuge Temple in Seaford, Delaware. She later attended St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Jamesville, VA and was ordained under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Nock. Throughout her Christian walk with God she has served in numerous ministries; Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Coordinator, Deaconess, Missionary, Willing Workers, Women’s Ministry, Pastor Aids Ministry.and Leadership Ministry just to name a few. She then became a devoted member of Overcomers Church for Victorious Living in Exmore, VA under the leadership of Elder Shawn Ayres, where she faithfully served and supported this church ministry. Evangelist Shirley leaves to cherish her memories: her father, Louis Onley, Jamesville, VA; her only daughter Melissa Seymour (Rudolph) of Jamesville, VA,; her two brothers, Lewis Onley Jr. (Stephanie) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; and Philip Onley (special friend Tommaine Palmer), Jamesville, VA,; a sister-in-law Deborah Onley (late Arthur Wayne Onley) of Irmo, South Carolina; two grandchildren Shannon and Desmond Onley and one great-grandchild Londyn Onley. five special grandchildren Shonique, Romano, ShaNiya, RaMontae and TaChyna and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
