Joseph Alan Tinney

Newport News, VA Joseph “Joey” Allen Tinney, 32, formerly of Windsor, VA, died Monday, October 6, 2014, following a brief illness. Joey was born in Landstuhl, Germany, while his parents, Joseph F. and Julie Ann Harris Tinney were both stationed there with the US Army. Joey attended Smithfield High School and Smithfield Assembly of God. For a number of years, he was an auto glass replacement and repair technician with Danny’s Glass and Glass Masters. A passionate musician, he loved playing the guitar and drums. A beloved son, brother, and devoted uncle, and in addition to his father and mother, Joey is survived by his sister, Kathy Miller and husband, Tye; two brothers, Daniel Tinney and wife, Jesse, and William Tinney; sorely missed by nieces, Melody, Felicity, and Darby and nephews, Griffen, Zach, and Nick; also survived by his maternal grandmother, Carol Poland and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. A service celebrating Joey’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 11, in Smithfield Assembly of God with Pastor Darrin Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather at the church from 1-2 pm for a time of visitation. The family suggests memorial contributions to Smithfield Assembly of God, 1800 S. Church Street, PO Box 218, Smithfield, 23431. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.
