Julia Ann Tinney

Zuni, VA Julia “Julie” Ann Harris Tinney, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Decatur, IL, June 1, 1959, Julie was the daughter of the late Linda Sue Stalker and Charles W. Harris. After a short stint in the US Army, Julie married and raised her family in Smithfield, since 1996. In addition to her parents, Julie is preceded in death by a son, Joseph Alan Tinney. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 37 years, Joseph Francis “Joe” Tinney; daughter, Kathy Marie Miller; two sons, Daniel Robert Tinney, and William David Tinney; seven grandchildren, Zack, Melody, Nick, Griffen, Felicity, Darby, and Elijah; her step-mother, Carol Pollard and her husband, Lyle; 2 sisters, Debbie Larson and Diana Harris; brother, Charles Harris; and a host of extended family and friends. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Julie will be remembered for her sweet, nurturing spirit. She was devoted to her grandchildren and was passionately involved in their lives. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation by simply asking “and where are you from?” Julie was an avid sports fan always following the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls, and the Bears. She had a great eye for photography. Family and friends will gather for visitation 1 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016, followed by a service celebrating Julie’s life at 2:00 pm, in Smithfield Assembly of God, with Rev. Donald K. Watkins officiating. Private interment will follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions to Smithfield Assembly of God, PO Box 218, Smithfield, VA 23431, in Julie’s memory.
