Mark Richard Lindstedt Obituary

Mark Richard Lindstedt, 65, of Chesapeake, Virginia, lost his 12 year battle with multiple myeloma on October 15th. He handled this challenge as he did every part of his life with optimism and determination. He had incredible vigor for life and bravely fought to live as long as he could. Mark graduated from Wilson HS, Tacoma, Washington in 1973. He followed in his father’s footsteps graduating from the apprenticeship at Puget Sound Navel Shipyard as a Machinist. He had numerous jobs over the years as an employee of the US Government and retired from the Department of Defense as a Software Specialist. He reached his dream of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, graduating with honors, Summa Cum Laude. He was a lifelong fisherman and was happiest near water with a fresh catch on the line. He passed down his love of the outdoors to his girls on many hiking and camping trips. Mark loved to travel and had happy adventures with his family to London, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, Michigan, Texas and his home state of Washington. Endlessly curious, he could identify any tree, plant or bird. He loved his backyard garden and was even known to make friends with an occasional blue jay or squirrel. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Valerie Duz Lindstedt, his two daughters, Nicole Lindstedt and Rachel Yarborough, son-in-law Chris Yarborough, five adoring grandchildren, Cassidy, Ashlyn, Finnley, Sydney, and Hollis, his mother Rosemarie Lindstedt, his sister Kathy Caines and her husband Joe and their son Todd as well as a whole host of loving friends. Mark was well loved by his brothers and sisters by marriage, Kris, Anita, Mark, Roch, Catherine, Peter, Steven, Claire, and Amy. He was known for his good nature, great sense of humor, and true kindness. Mark brought the fun to every occasion… a person everyone wanted to be around.
