Ruth Eleanor Eason

Ruth Eleanor Eason, 74 passed away peacefully in her home in Chesapeake on October 10, 2020 and is now resting with the Lord. Her loved ones are comforted in knowing she is reunited with her husband, the late James E. Eason, Sr. (“Jimmy, “Pawpaw”) and son, the late Curtis Lee Stewart (“Him”)and other loved ones who passed before her. “Mawmaw” was born January 13, 1946 in Kinston, North Carolina to the late Bruno Kunowski and Josephine Hinson Moody. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Penny Stewart; sons, Jeff Stewart and his wife, Donna, Jim Eason and his wife, Kari, Sam Eason and his wife, Jessica, and son-in-love, Kenneth Alford. Mawmaw loved her “babies” and celebrates eight grandchildren, Brandon Stewart and his wife, Chrissy, Cory Stewart and his wife, Jessica, Jamie Stewart, Cameron Eason, Chase Eason, Colby Eason, Zach Eason and Lucas Selfridge; six great-grandchildren, Zoe Hudgins, Liam Stewart, Aria Stewart, Colson Ward, Skylar Stewart, Andrew Stewart. She also leaves behind her sisters, Freida Stinnett, Troni Baker and husband, Tuffy; brother, Tony Wayne Tomlinson and wife, Diane; numerous nieces, nephews, “Cabbage Patch Kids” and a large extended family. If you met her once, you were in Mawmaw’s family circle. Ruth touched the lives of many and her legacy includes many years with Home Interiors where she made the world a more beautiful place one room at a time. Ruth enjoyed music (especially Elvis) cooking, baking, spoiling her babies and above all spending time with family. She loved every holiday and decorated and celebrated them all. Her beautiful smile was contagious and she never knew a stranger. A celebration of life is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake followed by a reception and fellowship at the funeral home. Food items (appreciated but not expected) may be dropped off/delivered prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association in Ruth’s memory. Mask must be worn properly the entire time and we ask all guest to social distance as much as possible, seating is limited.
