Jess Hand

Jess Harold Hand, 90, of Clearwater Park, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born in Schuylkill County, Pa. on May 2, 1927 to Dorothy and Charles Hand. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Eileen, of 66 years. He is survived by his two sons, Jess J. Hand (Amy) of Manakin Sabot, Va. and Bradley C. Hand (Peggy) of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jonathan L. Hand (Emily) of Richmond, Va. and Laura C. Hand of Dubai, UAE. Jess served his country during the Korean War. He worked for US Printing and Litho in Baltimore, Md., and Mead Packaging in Atlanta, Ga. In 1961 he and his family moved to Covington where he began his career at West Va. Pulp and Paper Company. He was Superintendent of the sheet finishing department early in his career but spent most of his time in Tech Sales Service. He enjoyed fly fishing, cribbage, golf, reading, a cold beer and ring bologna. He loved spending time with his family and telling great stories. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, 5221 Valley Park Drive, Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24019.
