Loretta Benham

Mrs. Loretta Redman Benham, age 82, of Covington, died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at her residence. She was the wife of Kenneth Ray Benham. Mrs. Benham was born June 13, 1934 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Herbert McKinley Redman and Sadie Florence Humphries Redman. A lifetime resident of this community, she was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. Upon graduation, Loretta studied under several well known artists in her pursuit of commercial art. Mrs. Benham was a member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Benham is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Ledford, of Covington and Martha Jane Tinnel of Goodview; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Lucas Redman of Fredericksburg. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Benham was preceded in death by an infant son in 1959. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 12, 2017, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Hollowell officiating, assisted by Rev. David Brown. Interment will follow in Simmons Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Hawthorne, Brian Chapman, Shane Wolfe, Travis Ledford, Pete Hutchison and Edward Wiseman. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or Boiling Springs Fire and Rescue, 5407 Potts Creek Road, Covington, VA 24426. Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; ww.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
