Darrell Lee Britt, Sr. – Nickelsville, VA Darrell Lee Britt, Sr., 61, Nickelsville, VA went Home to be with our Lord and Savior, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 12:10 a.m at his residence. He fought a courageous battle with COPD and cancer. Darrell was born in Charleston, WVA on March 14, 1956 and was the son of the late James Bertie Britt, Jr. and Juanita Faye Whaley Britt. He was raised in Cleveland, VA and traveled working construction for many years. He retired from Bristol Compressors, Inc. in 2005. He enjoyed all outdoor activities. He was a wonderful provider and a loving family man. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, his sister, Saundra Britt Mangus and a great nephew, James Kash Huffman preceded him in death. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Karen Elam Britt, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, Angela Britt Bailey and husband, J.T. Pamplin, VA; son, Darrell Lee Britt, Jr. and wife, Shauna, Abingdon, VA; his grandsons, Jonathan Malachi Britt, Kenneth Darrell James Eden, and Corey Alexander Britt; his furbaby, who brought him so much joy in his last days, Medina Skye Britt; brother, James E. Britt and wife, Brenda, Beckley, W.VA; sister, Sarah J. Britt, Cleveland, VA; aunts, Georgina Whaley Liston and husband, Robert, Canal Fulton, OH and Bertha Bowman and husband, Darrell, St. Cloud, FL; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ron Owens officiating. A eulogy will be given by Dr. Todd Cassel. Burial will follow the service at the Grassy Creek Cemetery. James E. Britt, Jr., James R. Huffman, Dylan Osborne, David Mitchell, John Salyer, and Adam “Elmo” Sykes will serve as pallbearers.
