RUSSELL BRADY ARTRIP Clintwood, VA- Russell Brady Artrip, age 52 of Puckett Gap, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood, VA. Born in Fairfax, VA, he was a son of Hattie Yvonne Counts Artrip and the late Oland Edward Artrip. He was a 1984 Haysi High School graduate and had a Bachelor’s degree from UVA Wise. He was last employed as a Special Ed teacher for the Dickenson County Public School System and was of the Freewill Baptist faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Todd Artrip, an aunt, Betty Oden and cousin, Christina Delguidice. In addition to his mother, Hattie, survivors include his wife, Melissa Artrip, children, Cole (Emily Hawkins) Artrip of Clintwood and Tanner (Kristen Abate) Artrip of Bristol, TN, an aunt, Josie Artrip, mother-in-law, Leona “Tiny” Thomas and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Haysi Funeral Home with Danny Sluss officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. prior to funeral services. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 6, at Artrip Cemetery, Clintwood, VA. Pallbearers will be Brian Childress, P.E. Edwards, Jarren McCowan, Darwin Stallard, Jeff Branham, Dennis McCowan, Ervin Counts and Cody Branham, honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Barton and Greg Wampler.
