Mr. Clarence Ratliff, age 69, of Council, Virginia passed away Tuesday (May 9, 2017) at his home. Born February 16, 1948 in Murphy, Virginia, he was a son of the late Glen and Lilly Boyd Ratliff. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a former coal miner and he enjoyed fishing and camping. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawson Deel, Milton Ratliff and Vince Ratliff and one daughter-in-law, Alisa Ratliff. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Bertha Ratliff of the home; three sons, Wayne Ratliff, Greg Ratliff and Billy Ratliff all of Council, Virginia; foster son, John Johnson of Davenport, Virginia; two daughters, Sandra Ratliff and Jeannie Ratliff and fiancé, Clayton Deel both of Council, Virginia; sister, Faye Vance of Abingdon, Virginia; brother, Garman Owens of Swords Creek, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Presley officiating. Interment will follow in the Ratliff Family Cemetery at Little Fox, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
