Mr. Corbet Carson Baldwin, age 91, of Long Branch Road, Rowe, Virginia, passed away Thursday (March 16, 2017) at his home. Born August 23, 1925 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Asa Crockett and Lillian Fletcher Baldwin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was formerly employed as a coal miner. He had served in the 7th Armored Infantry Battalion during World War II as an Expert Rifleman. He was wounded in combat and had received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for gallantry. He also received several other campaign ribbons for his contribution during the war. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Artis Thomas Baldwin; six brothers and five sisters. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Hall and husband, Douglas of Rowe, Virginia; five sons, Lonnie Baldwin and wife, Susan of Rowe, Corbett Baldwin and wife, Gracie Baldwin of Honaker, Kenneth Baldwin and wife, Lisa of Ohio, Earl Baldwin and wife, Sandy of Rowe, and Keith Baldwin and wife, Sherrie of Rowe, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Kenneth Baldwin, Jr. of Ohio, Jim Baldwin of Richlands, David Baldwin and wife, Tonya of Raven, Michael Baldwin of Honaker, Mark Baldwin of Bristol, Virginia, Robert Baldwin of Richlands, Michelle Hall and husband, Bryan of Rowe, and Kandice Ray and husband, Seth of Kingsport, eight great-grandchildren, Erin Baldwin, Kenneth Baldwin, III, Samantha Baldwin, Lilly Baldwin, Sam Baldwin, Michael Baldwin, Chloe Keen, and Preston Keen; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Patricia “Sis” Hall for all her dedication in caring for her father. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leonard Meadows and Rev. Lois Null officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Monday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
