Mr. Darrell Woodard, age 66, of Chilhowie, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (July 5, 2017) at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. Born April 1, 1951 in Rowe, Virginia, he was a son of the late Henry Noble and Lillian Draper Lewis Woodard. A lifelong resident of the southwest Virginia area, he attended the Church of God in Glade Spring, Virginia. A retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA, he had formerly been employed by Island Creek Coal Company for twenty-three years and Consol for ten years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ricky, Harold, and Mike Woodard. Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Sarah Woodard of the home; two sons, Wesley Woodard and wife, Karen and Chris Woodard and wife, Wendy all of Honaker; one step-son, Joseph Paul Miller of the home; four grandchildren, Cody Woodard, Connor Woodard, Kourtney Woodard, and Collin Woodard; one great-grandson, Christopher Clayton Woodard; one sister, Wanda Miller and husband, Kermit; four brothers, Don Woodward and wife, Betty, Larry Woodward and wife, Linda, Gary Woodward and wife, Lynn, and Randall Woodward; special friend, Steve Deboard; several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Pastor James Walls officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia. Pallbearers will be David Woodard, Richard Woodard, Larry “Bubby” Woodward, Cody Woodard, Connor Woodard, Collin Woodard, Darnell McGlothlin, Clayton McGlothlin, and Burl McGlothlin.
