James Plaster Obituary

Mr. James R. Plaster, age 59, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (October 14, 2017) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born August 28, 1958 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late James William “Bill” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Peck Plaster. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1979 graduate of Whitewood High School and had been employed as Chief Sewer Plant Operator for the Town of Honaker for thirty-five years. He attended Church Alive in Drill, Virginia and Ivy Springs Baptist Church. A Virginia Tech Hokie fan, James enjoyed hunting, but most of all spending time with his family. He was always there to help anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James William Plaster, Jr. Survivors include his wife of thirty-three year, Alicia Reynolds Plaster of the home; one daughter, Crystal Justus and husband, Mike of Abingdon, Virginia; one brother, Garnet Plaster of Shreve, Ohio; three sisters, Nancy Price of Swords Creek, Betty Gendron of Taylorsville, North Carolina, and Iva Pittman and husband, Jimmy of Grundy; aunt, Mimiah Belle Reynolds of Honaker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Lucille Reynolds of Honaker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Richard VanDyke, Tammy Lester, and Scott and Jennifer Reynolds; special friend, Darrell Lester; special great-niece, Treasah Price; K-9 companion, Toby; several nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Gerald Lester and Rev. Steve Lester officiating. Interment will follow in the Plaster Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Bryan Johnson, Lindsey Melton, Wayne Price, William Price, Anthony Price, and Rodney Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of the Town of Honaker. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
