Mrs. Naomi Gay Stevens Honaker, age 59, of the New Garden Road section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (January 21, 2011) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born May 24, 1951 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Fife Stevens. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Baptist faith. She had formerly been the Secretary of the Democrat Party of Russell County and had retired as the Russell County Emergency Management Coordinator. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Stevens and James Stevens, and four sisters, Janice Stevens, Brenda Stevens, Irene Johnson, and Linda Poore. Survivors include her husband of forty-one years, Howard J. Honaker of the home; three daughters, Lee Lawson and husband, John C. of Pounding Mill, Selina Honaker and friend, Russell Sykes of Lebanon, and Jamie Keesee and husband, Jessee of Honaker; three grandchildren, Luke Fields, Ella Elizabeth Lawson, and Landon Keesee; one sister, Ruth Sluder and husband, Robert of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; two brothers, Henry Stevens and wife, Virginia and Ira Joe Stevens and wife, Virginia all of Honaker; her niece and her nurse angel, Dusti King; several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Robert Tiller, Rev. Chester Ball, and Rev. Yul Miller. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Gerald Stevens, Adam Stevens, Douglas Wells, Steven Starnes, Shannon Smith, Dennis Honaker, Caleb Smith, Malachi Smith, Isaiah Smith, and Harvey Honaker. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday.
