Mr. Scottie J. Coxton, age 50, of Honaker, Virginia made his way to Heaven on October 6, 2012. Born November 17, 1961 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elva Street Coxton and Coy Blankenship. He was raised in the Thompson Valley section of Tazewell, Virginia but lived in Honaker, Virginia at the time of his death. He was employed as a coal miner at Omega Mines in Flatrock, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Velva Taylor, Daisy Chevy, Gerldene Hatfield, Linda Kennon and Della Hatfield as well as several nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife of eighteen years, Tracy Coxton of the home; children, Daniel Jenkins and wife, Hope and Tina Hagy both of Tazewell, Virginia, Scottie (Buck) Coxton, William (Lee) Coxton, Audrey Shortt and husband, Matt, Ashley Wibel and husband, Ethan, Courtney Coxton and Dylan Coxton all of Honaker, Virginia and Joseph Coxton of Madison County, Virginia; one live-in granddaughter, Taylor Coxton along with three other granddaughters, Cierra Shortt (Papaw’s Lil’ Boy), Jasmine Shortt and Nevaeh Hess; seven grandsons, Matthew Salyers, Justin Thacker, Jason Thacker, Scottie Coxton, Matthew Shortt, Bryson Hess and Braiden Corvin; surviving siblings, Arvil Coxton and wife, Sharron, Lester Coxton and wife, Jeanette, John L. Coxton and wife, Sandy, William Coxton, Rick Coxton and wife, Lyla, Darrell Coxton and Joe Coxton and wife, Connie all of Tazewell, Virginia and one sister, Judy Rollins of Gordonsville, Virginia; two special brothers-in-law, Harry Hatfield and Dave Hatfield and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Micheal Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Coxton Cemetery in Thompson Valley, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Johnny Coxton, Keith Stiltner, Jody Blankenship, Dylan Coxton, Daniel Jenkins, William Coxton, Matt Shortt and Randy Puckett.
