Verdie Jane Jessee

<p>Verdie Jane (Lyttle) Jessee, 94, of Castlewood, Va. went to receive her heavenly reward on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Born on October 17, 1922, she was the daughter of Charlie E. and Ida V. Lyttle. She was a 1942 graduate of Temple Hill High School and former employee of Russell Manufacturing in Lebanon, Va. She loved family, gardening, and flowers. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson (Jack) Jessee; three brothers, Charlie Herbert Lyttle, Joseph Hester Lyttle, and Thomas Heelen Lyttle; two sisters, Nellie Virginia Lyttle and Isabelle Lyttle; seven half-brothers, Sammie E. Lyttle, Robert M. Lyttle, Corbet I. Lyttle, Eugene H. Lyttle, Roy J. Lyttle, Garfield B. Lyttle, and Lloyd I. Lyttle; and two half-sisters, Rosa P. Lyttle and Ada J. Patton. </p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her step-son, James (Jackie) Jessee and wife Cathy of Newport, Tenn.; nephews, Bruce Lyttle (Patty) of Kingsport, Tenn., John Edward Lyttle (Kim) of Berryville, Va., Robert Lyttle (Lynne) of Sterling, Va., James (Jim) Lyttle (Sherry) of Castlewood, and Walter Lyttle (Mary) of Vienna, Va.; nieces, Wanda Ricker (Fred) of Greenville, Tenn., Mary Jane Sennett of Vienna, Va., Evonne Vaughn (Bobby) of Bristol, Tenn. and Velma Jane Witte (Gerry) of Bristol, Va., and one special great niece who she called her granddaughter – Shiloh Grace Lyttle of Castlewood.</p><p><br></p><p>She had been a faithful worshiper over the years at Grassy Creek Union Church, Lake View Union Church, and Church Hill United Methodist. </p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks are extended to Sally Combs RN, as well as the staff, nurses, and aids at Maple Grove Skilled Nursing. </p><p><br></p><p>As requested by “Aunt” Verdie arrangements were made for her body to be provided for research (UVA University Hospital) that others might have the long and joyful life she had. </p><p>A Celebration of her life will take place at Church Hill United Methodist Church at 112 Church Hill Road in Hansonville, Va. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Arville Dingus officiating. </p><p>Visitation with family will be from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.</p><p><br></p><p>Share condolences and memories with the family at www.owensfuneralservice.com.</p><p><br></p><p>Owens Funeral Service and Cremations Services, 7 Tate St., Lebanon, Va., is in charge of arrangements, </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
