Helen Lester Green, born July 29, 1935, peacefully left this earth surrounded by family on Aug. 2, 2007, at the age of 72. She will be dearly missed by all that loved and knew her. Helen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Green; her daughter, Tammy Speakes; and sons, Ralph Green, Freddie Green and Joe Green. She is also survived by her brothers, Ted Lester, Stacy Lester and Ernie Lester; sisters, Lonie Butler, Gracie Lester, Eileen Blankenship and Hazel Hurley; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Lester; her mother, Josie Lester; and one brother, Bobby Lester. The world is an emptier place for Helen''s passing, but Heaven is richer by far. The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Colchester Free Will Baptist Church in Nokesville, Va., and services will be at the church on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Slemp officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Va. Arrangements are under the direction of the Baker Funeral Home, Manassas, Va.
