Renee Davis

Janice Renee Davis, 77, of Manassas, Virginia passed on September 22, 2020 at her home surrounded by her three natural born children. She passed peacefully in the place she loved and had retired. Born June 4, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee and was the daughter of Kenneth D. Davis and Edna Grace Davis. She married 3 times and had survived all 3 husbands. Robert R. VanHouten, John Parangosky and the love of her life Leroy (Lee) Lawrence Offenbacker. She was the second born of four girls. She had three sisters, one of which had preceded her, Angela Davis. She has two surviving sisters. The oldest Sylvia Abromovitz and her other sister third born Kathy Pritchett. Renee was ahead of her time and after graduating high school in 1961 she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the F.B.I. She then moved to Colorado with a work friend and started her life as a wife and mother to her three children. She was a woman that did not see herself as a follower and would carve a path in life second to none. She divorced young and took on the task of raising three children on her own. She would later move back to Memphis, Tennessee for a short while before moving to Arlington, Virginia and pursued her career with Hyatt Hotels. She met her second husband while working for Hyatt and later would separate from him. Her career path would change and she then started working for the infamous Woodward & Lorthrop where she would meet her future husband and love of her life Lee Offenbacker. She survived Lee Offenbacker and will rest with him at Arlington National Cemetery. Something that was very important to her. She would then retire to the home that she shared with her soulmate and live out the rest of her days. Renee retired from the retail industry with decades of experience and would later move on to other interests and likes. She returned to college where she studied horticulture and enjoyed that immensely. She was kept busy with many different interests upon retirement which aside from returning to school as a senior citizen , volunteering at Prince William Hospital where she would rock babies, work as a concierge and the gift shop. Some of her favorite things beside family was working with stained glass, gardening, and quilting. She would makes quilts for everyone and had great pleasure in giving them people. Going to the freedom center and exercising with her senior group was also something she enjoyed. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel abroad and she loved it. Another of her favorites was being a participant in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in which her children joined her. She did everything from walk with floats to being a balloon handler. She truly enjoyed the opportunity to share the experience with her family as they enjoyed it as well. Family was everything to Renee. Renee is survived by her three natural children, son Tony VanHouten of Manassas, VA, daughter Shelli Paul (husband Craig) of Warrenton, VA and daughter Theresa Vaughan (husband Thorpe) of Leesburg, VA. She also has three step sons from her last marriage David Offenbacker of Baltimore, MD, Jamie Offenbach of Honolulu, Hawaii and Robbie Offenbacker of Stevensville, Maryland. She also has eight grandchildren. Michelle Jarrell, Robert Offenbacker, Samantha Scanlon, Jessica Ray, Meri-Tate Vaughan, Andersen Vaughan, Chandler Vaughan and Bennett Vaughan. She also has two great grandchildren Oilivia Jarrell and Ava Jarrell. Family was everything to Renee and nothing brought her more joy than seeing them and spending time with them. A house full of family at the holidays made her glow with happiness. It is with much regret that due to COVID-19 the service will be limited family and will be a private ceremony. We wish that we could all that would like to attend to be there but at this it would not be possible. Renee will be buried with her third husband and love her of her life at Arlington National Cemetery and those that wish to attend that service are welcome. Due to the backlog at Arlington National Cemetery, the burial will be announced at a later date. Flowers and so forth would be appreciated but it was Renee's request that if you would like to do something as a memorial that you give to a charity of your choice under her name and memory.
