Mrs. Christine M. Sparkman, age 79 of South Hill died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 . Born in Ipswich, England, Mrs. Sparkman was the beloved wife of M/Sgt James F Sparkman, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons; Mike & Sheri Sparkman of South Hill, James & Martha Sparkman of King George, VA and Jerry & Beth Sparkman of Denver, Iowa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Kelli, Steve, Scott, and Kristy, Kasey,and Beverly, Kimberly, JD, Lydia Victoria, James, Michael and Elizabeth as well as 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Sparkman was also preceded in death by a devoted friend Dawn Worledge of Ipswich, England. Mrs. Sparkman will be remembered as a tough lady who survived tough times. Although she lived in the “states” for many years, she embraced her British heritage, her local friends and her friends abroad. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2pm Sunday by Rev. Sandi Libhart at South Hill Presbyterian Church with a time of fellowship to follow. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Monday at Crestview Memorial Park.
