Mr. Leroy Frederick Nelson, age 71 of South Hill died Tuesday, Oct 4, 2011 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Nelson of the home; 4 sons, Ken and his wife Janet Nelson, Chris and his wife Dena Nelson, Donald Thompson, Richard and his wife Sonia Thompson; 4 daughters, Dawn and her husband David Scott, Jennefer Nelson, Carol Pfiefer, Charlotte and her husband Steve Hoff Also surviving is a brother, Dennis Nelson; three sisters, Gloria Depinto, Janie Roberts and Diane Grubl; a very special granddaughter, Jessica and her husband Robert Landsverk; 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey and Harold Thompson and two daughters, Cathy Jane Nelson and Marlys Thompson. Mr. Nelson retired from the U S Marine Corp. where he served 4 tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 79 and VFW 7166. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2pm Sunday, October 9th at the American Legion Post 79, Brook Avenue, South Hill.
