Marquis Michael Wood, age 21 of Brodnax, VA died on January 6, 2012 in a car accident. Marquis was employed by American Industrial Heat Transfer as an Information Technology Assistant with the passion of growth within the company. He is survived by his mother Cathy Wood of the home; sisters Maranda Wood of Charlotte, NC and Matisha Wood of Camden, NJ; Maternal Grandfather SGM (Ret) Reginald E. Wood, Sr., (Connie) of Manning, SC; Maternal Grandmother Gladys Wood of Columbia, SC and a Great Grandmother Elsie Johnson of Clayton, NC. Also surviving is a niece Genesis Wood-Brown of Charlotte, NC; a nephew Xavier Davis of Camden, NJ; aunts Joellyn Williams, Belinda Wood, Camilla White (Phillip); uncle Reginald E. Wood Jr. (Angela); cousins Nikia, Justin, Jamilah, Tauheed (Shrice), Khadijah, Jalil, Jacqueline, Paola, Breonna, Byron, Demetris, Rajahmel, Anna, Elisa, Katrell and host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Marquis was a student at Southside Virginia Community College where he studied Computer Science. He had a love for music and was known as DJ Mikey. At the age of 12 Marquis became an entrepreneur with his very own lawn service, he had a passion for the outdoors and participated in many outdoor hobbies, like fishing, swimming, riding dirt bikes, jet boat water skiing and more. Marquis touched many lives and always entered a room with a great big smile; he never was a stranger to being a helpful hand. Many people brought Marquis into their family lives as one of their own, giving him many Mothers, Fathers, Sisters and Brothers. Marquis was deeply loved by all. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Farrar Funeral Home by Rev. Dr. George P. Windley. Burial will follow in the LaCrosse Cemetery.
