Arthur Smith

Arthur “Art” James Smith Jr., 61, of Middletown, VA passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at his home. Mr. Smith was born on May 31, 1952 in Staten Island, NY, the son of the late Arthur J. and Joyce Patricia Badstein Smith Sr. He served as a paratrooper in the United States Army Elite 82nd Airborne Division. Art retired from the I.U.E.C. Local #10 after 25 years of service as an elevator mechanic. He married Barbara Boyd on February 16, 1974 in Winchester, VA. He is survived by his wife of 39 years of Middletown, VA, a daughter, Molly K. Smith of Middletown, VA; two sisters, Patricia L. May and her husband Lynn of Spring Branch, TX and Stephanie D. Srackangast and her husband Tim of Spring Branch, TX; a brother, Greg Smith and his wife Sharon of Spring Branch, TX; his in-laws, Strother and Gladys Boyd, brother in-law, Doug and Mary Boyd; sister in-law, Scott and Brenda Fincham; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Jones funeral home in Winchester with Pastor Kitty Hahn-Campanella officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew Fonger, Jake Hemming, Cale Fuller, Steve Mitchell, Louis Kerns and Rob Rhue.
