James Vaughn

James William Vaughn Sr., 87, of Winchester, VA passed away on September, 23, 2017 at Envoy of Winchester, VA. He was born April 10, 1930 in Paige County, VA; the son of Walter D. and Ruby Presgraves Vaughn. After serving in the U.S. Navy he worked as a transportation supervisor at FEMA. James married Nellie Carroll, September 1, 1951 in Winchester, VA. Nellie preceded him in death on January 21, 2017. He is survived by a son, Terry Dolan Vaughn of Winchester; a brother, Walter Dolan Vaughn, Jr, of Stephens City, VA; sisters, Dorothy Wright of Woodstock, VA, Jean Mumaw of Edinburg, VA, Ethel Seal of Mauertown, VA, Sharon Kaiser of Middletown, VA, Susie Harper of Strasburg, VA, and Kathy Linaweaver of Woodstock; five grandchildren; Nathan Crim, Mathew Vaughn, Brandon Bate, Tyler Vaughn, and Corey Vaughn, and one great granddaughter, Rory Vaughn. Along with his wife Nellie, he is preceded in death by three sons, James W. Vaughn, Timothy W. Vaughn, Stephen D. Vaughn; a brother, Donnie Vaughn and four sisters, Margaret Lantz, Evelyn Tucker, Betty Sheetz, and Alice Winegard. Private services will be held at a later date.
