Ray Nethers

Ray Brown Nethers, 88, of Charlotte Hall, MD, formerly of Winchester passed peacefully from this life on Friday, August 17, 2012. Ray was born June 17, 1924 in Nethers, VA in Madison County, VA; the son of the late William Clifton and Inez P. Brown Nethers. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired as a block press operator at Abex after 35 years. He married Souvillah Maude Woodard on February 21, 1955 in Winchester, VA. He is survived by two daughter-in-laws, Patty Nethers of Winchester and Ginger Nethers of Huntingtown, MD; three grandchildren, Kevin Nethers, Kimberly Boswell both of Huntingtown, MD and Tiffany Nethers of Winchester, VA and three great grandchildren, Logan Boswell, Aubrey Nethers and Taylor Nethers all of Huntingtown, MD. He was preceded in death by three sons, Lawrence R. Nethers, Ray B. Nethers Jr. and Jeffrey D. Nethers; a sister, Lucy Goodall; two brothers, Nelson Nethers and Clifton Nethers and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Rev. Mike Mayton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to any of the Winchester or Frederick County Fire and Rescue Departments.
