Bert Johnson

Bert Andrew Johnson, Sr., 81, former Industrial Electric superintendent, died May 12, 2012 at his home near Markham, WA. Bert was born on December 3, 1930 in Renville, Minnesota to Bertram and Jennie (Grover) Johnson. He grew up in Renville and became a journeyman Motor Winder at the age of 16. In 1948 Bert joined the Navy and served for 4 years. After his Honorable Discharge he went to work at the Savannah River Project in South Carolina for 3 years. In 1955 he moved to Aberdeen where he worked for Industrial Electric in the Motor Shop, which he eventually became the Superintendent. He retired in 1989. On June 8, 1957, Bert married Charlotte Mae Rawson in Aberdeen. She resides at the family home. Bert was a lifetime member of the NRA. Bert also enjoyed working in his shop and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t make. Bert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Johnson of Markham; a son Kevin and his wife Laurie Johnson of Hoquiam; five daughters: Charlotte Wilson of Ocosta, Deanna Stoneback of Hoquiam, Dawna and husband KC Hile of Westport, Jenny and husband Harold Williams of Westport and Andrea and husband Jay Stene of Littlerock, WA; eighteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Bert was preceded in death by a son Bert A. Johnson Jr. whom died as an infant, two brothers and four sisters. Per his request, there will be no services. Donations can be made to PAWS, P.O.
