Chester Jolly

Chester Charles ‘Chet’ Jolly, Jr., 77, Aberdeen resident and former owner of Harbor Physical Therapy, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Chet was born on March 21, 1938 in San Diego, CA to Chester Charles and Geraldine ( Bernard ) Jolly, Sr. His family moved to South America for five years before moving to Oakland, CA where Chet graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland, CA. In 1956, Chet moved to Missoula, MT where he attended University of Montana and graduated in 1960. He then moved to Houston, TX and obtained his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy at the Herman School of Physical Therapy in 1962. Chet returned to Oakland and on June 8, 1962 he married Evelyn Johnson. In 1968, Chet and his family moved to Aberdeen, where he went to work at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen and in 1976, Chet opened Harbor Physical Therapy and operated that until his retirement in 2006. Chet was a member of the Aberdeen Rotary Club, The Grays Harbor Country Club, Past President of the Washington State Physical Therapists Association, Past President of the YMCA Board of Directors and Past President of the Grays Harbor College Foundation. Chet also enjoyed playing golf, travel, skiing, painting and photography. He enjoyed being with his family and friends most of all. Chet is survived by a son, Craig Jolly of Sacramento, CA, a daughter, Lisa Jolly of Olympia; a sister Gerri (Howard) Isham of San Leandro, CA; Three grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler and Chad. Chet was preceded in death by a son, Eric Jolly in 1994. A celebration of Chet’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 12:00pm at Cornerstone Church in Aberdeen with reception to follow at the church. The family suggests donations in Chet's memory be made to YMCA of Grays Harbor or Grays Harbor College Foundation.
