Dorothy Anderson

Longtime resident of Hoquiam, Dorothy E. Secor Anderson, 80, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Friday, October 25, 2013. She was born in Aberdeen, WA, January 8, 1933, the daughter of Herbert Warnic and Gladys Opal (Markham) Secor. Dorothy graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1952 and was married to John Michael Anderson in Hoquiam, February 11, 1955. He died here January 28, 2003. Dorothy Looked forward to family gatherings and enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren. Her little dog “Lady” gave her great joy. She was active in the Hoquiam Eagles Auxiliary No. 252, serving as its president and also running the Bingo games for many years. After the closure of the Hoquiam Eagles, she became a member of the Elma Eagles Auxiliary where she enjoyed making many new friends. The Hoquiam Elks and the Hoquiam VFW were her favorite Bingo stops, also. Dorothy is survived by three sons: Mike (Lori) Martin, Montesano, Richard (Linda) Anderson, Kenai, AK and Larry (Cathy) Anderson, Hoquiam; a daughter: Cherri (David) Linnenkamp, Renton, WA; two sisters: Margaret Harris, Elma and Irene Carlson, Central Park; two sisters, Beatrice and Barbara, preceded her in death as children. There are also seven grandchildren: Michael (Julie) Anderson, Marissa Martin, Kameron (Brenna) Anderson, Elizabeth (Tim) Rowsey, John Anderson and Brian and Alec Linnenkamp; and four great grandchildren: Tyson, Taylor, Trace and Hazen Anderson. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-4 PM Saturday, Nov. 30th at the Elma Eagles, 404 W. Young St., Elma. Inurnment will take place with John in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA. A card of condolence with a message or memory may be sent to the family at www.fernhillfuneral.com Arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.
