<p>Edna Viola Markley, age 100, longtime Hoquiam resident and former clerk with Grays Harbor County Treasurers Office died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Ocean Breeze Adult Home in University Place, WA.</p><p><br></p><p>Edna was born on March 26, 1915 in Chicago, IL to Albert and Ethel (Fellows) Akers. The family later moved to Aberdeen, WA where she graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1933. </p><p><br></p><p>Edna married Hugh Brown Markley in 1933. Hugh joined the US Navy during WW II. When her husband returned from the service, they moved to Hoquiam in 1947, where she lived until five years ago.</p><p><br></p><p>Edna was a member of the Hoquiam Grandmothers Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She loved traveling and eating ice cream.</p><p><br></p><p>Edna is survived by two sons: Bill and wife Carol Markley of Lakewood, WA and Richard and wife Valerie of Shelton, WA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Francis Akers.</p><p><br></p><p>Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA. Edna will be inurned with her husband at Fern Hill Cemetery.</p>

Edna was born on March 26, 1915 in Chicago, IL to Albert and Ethel (Fellows) Akers. The family later moved to Aberdeen, WA where she graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1933.
