Emma Gene ‘Genie’ Jimenez, 66, Aberdeen resident and Spanish translator for the Aberdeen Salvation Army and Grays Harbor Food Bank, died Saturday, January 11, 2013 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Emma was born on December 15, 1946 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Eugene and Emma Jean (Anderson) West. Her family moved to New Hall, California when she was a kid. She graduated from William S. Hart High School in 1965. On March 1, 1975, Genie married Fabian Jimenez in San Fernando Valley, CA. He resides at the family home. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Aberdeen. Genie worked for the local food bank and also at the Salvation Army where she did translator work and anything else they needed. Genie was a member of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed scrapbooking and make each of the grandkids books. She also collected enough state quarters so that each of the grandkids had a complete set of state quarters. Genie was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Genie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Fabian Jimenez of Aberdeen; two daughters: Olivia and husband Rafael Montes of Tacoma and Angela Jimenez of Aberdeen; Six grandchildren: Alex and Tony Lopez, Rafa, Jimena Montes,Will, Reyna Gamez; a great grandson she waited for, Adrain Perez; Parents: Eugene and Emma Gene West of Colorado; brothers: Richard West of Arkansas and Charles West of Utah; a sister Lynette West of Wyoming. There will be a memorial service for Genie at the Aberdeen Salvation Army Church, 215 N. ‘G’ St in Aberdeen on Sunday January 20th at 2:00 P.M.
