Gene Crowley Aberdeen, Washington Obituary

Gene Crowley

Gene Daniel Crowley, 65, Aberdeen resident and Viet Nam vet, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at his home in Aberdeen. Gene was born on November 3, 1947 in Raymond, Wa to Jack Arvid Crowley and Shirley "Sherry" Juanita Case. He attended schools in South Bend and Quinault. In 1965 he joined the Army where he served in Viet Nam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1968. If you had to pin Gene down to a favorite profession it would be motorcycle mechanic. He loved to ride, tinker with and put them back together. Ironically it would be a motorcycle accident that took part of his leg. Even though he never rode again he always had a love for them. A few years back he purchased an old Harley with the intention of restoring it to its former glory. His son, Keith, will be finishing that for him. Genes' great sense of humor and quick wit were well known by his many friends and will be missed. He loved to play pool and was the captain of the Captains Corner senior pool team. Gene was a member of the Aberdeen VFW and also received his welding certificate from Grays Harbor College. When Gene was in school he had a propensity for mischief. The school asked his father if they could give Gene an IQ test, it revealed he had quite a high IQ. Thus began his love of reading. When Gene was interested in something there wasn't a fact on the subject he didn't know. Gene was an avid history buff, especially anything to do with war and the military. Gene is survived by two sons: Keith (Angela) Crowley of Montesano and Kevin of Olympia; a daughter Alisa (Steve) Mazziotti of Tacoma; two sisters: Jackie Crowley and Pamela Crowley both of Olympia; Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by a his daughter, Korey Ann Crowley, father, Jack, stepmother, Mable Elaine Crowley, mother Sherry and half brother Jeff Hepner. I'll be seeing you Dad so try and behave yourself till then.... The family will be planning a celebration of Gene’s life at Captains Corner on Jan. 5 at 2:00.
