Gerald McFall Obituary

Gerald Dee McFall, 74, a Harbor resident since 1960, died at his home in East Hoquiam, Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was born in Nordland, VA on March 8, 1936, the son of Silas James and Lou Verna (Swindall) McFall. He graduated from high school at Clintwood, VA in 1957 and graduated from McLain’s Business College in Bluefield, VA in 1959. On April 4, 1960 Gerald married Nina Wallace in Clintwood and they left that day to establish their home on Grays Harbor. He went to work for Evans Products and then bought stock in the Hoquiam Plywood Company, working for them for nearly forty years, retiring in 2008. Gerald enjoyed all sports, especially baseball. He loved watching his grandchildren play in sports. He also would buy scratch tickets and seemed to always be ahead of his investment. In his earlier years he liked fish and hunt. He was a devoted husband, always concerned about the welfare of his wife of over 50 years, Nina, of the family home in East Hoquiam. He is also survived by two sons: Edwin Donald McFall, Aberdeen and Gerald Derek Lee McFall, Clinchco, WY; four daughters: Shirley Denise Norton, Mt. View, WY, Deloris Anita Onash, Hoquiam, Bebe LaJoy Jelineo, Longview and Dr. Kyna Charlotte Odell Wilson, Kelso; a brother: Jamesa Gordon McFall, Clintwood, VA; and three sisters: Merle Layne, Evington, VA, Georgia Perkins, Hindman, KY, and Lillian Miller, Cairo, OH; and also 14 grandchildren and one great grandson. Four brothers, Holliday, Tollie, George and John Mc Fall, and three sisters: Mariam Willis, Opal McFall and Gerald’s twin sister, Janet Lee Meade, all died before him. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Gerald’s life.
