I, Harold F. Cady, 91, died peacefully at home the morning of February 19, 2011. I was born August 4, 1919 in Aberdeen, Washington. My parents were Willis Hale Cady and Mary Frances (Fischer) Cady. I was the youngest of four children, Elta Byrne, Marian Setka and Warren Cady. I attended grade school and was in the last sixth grade class to occupy Franklin School. I graduated from Weatherwax High School in June of 1936. After completing four semesters at WSU just before Pearl Harbor, I enlisted in the US Marines, spent 21 months on Midway Island, returned state-side and went to officer’s school in Quantico, Virginia. While vacationing in Washington, DC, I met a Navy Wave named Audrey, saw what I liked and liked what I saw! After one more short trip over-seas, the bomb was dropped. I came home, married the Wave and got a job in the family dry-cleaning business. In 1946 several of my boyhood friends and I joined the Marine reserve Company B. Life started to speed up in the next four years. Two children later and it was time out for another war..this time Korea. The whole reserve unit was called up and left in August of 1950. This war lasted 15 months. In the ensuing years, I entered into an insurance agency and raised five children. I am survived by my loving wife, Audrey; my children, Barbara Cady Heaton and spouse Barry of Portland, OR, John Cady and spouse Terri, of Aberdeen, Fredrick Cady and spouse LuAnn, of Aberdeen, Patrick Cady and spouse Clarice, Aberdeen, and Diane Cady Pollock and spouse Mark, Kasilof, AK. My grandchildren are Amanda Heaton Lewis, David and Jeff Heaton, Angela Cady Thompson, Craig and Chris Cady, Ethan and Michael Cady, Willy Cady, Adaya and Nimi Pollock and my great granddaughters Madeline, Emily, Ashlinn, Audrey, Olivia and Ava (arriving soon!) Among my interests were bridge clubs, crossword puzzles, tennis, golf and racquet ball. I was a voracious reader and an Elks Band member from 1946 until 2006. Some of my affiliations were Active Club, Young Republican Club, Grays Harbor Country Club and BPOE. I loved my family and my fellow man. All are welcome to attend a graveside service with military honors at 11 AM Saturday, February 26 at Fern Hill Cemetery. A memorial will follow from 12 to 3 PM at the Rotary Log Pavilion, Aberdeen.
