Jack Westberg

Jack Selvin Westberg, 76, Aberdeen resident and former Service writer for Wasson Buick in Aberdeen, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his home in Aberdeen. Jack was born on October 3, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles and Sophie Allie (Johnson) Newville. He lived in Minneapolis for a few months before his family moved to Olympia, WA. He attended William Winlock Miller High School in Olympia and joined the Navy in his Senior year. In June of 1959, Jack married Jeanette Wolfenbarger. They later divorced in 1981. Jack worked for Piston Service of Aberdeen as a parts man for many years. He then worked at Wasson Buick from 1990 to 1998. He went to work for The Port of Grays Harbor as a security guard from 1998 to 2012. Jack loved golfing, bowling and camping. He also collected nautical things, ie ships and boats. Jack is survived by two sons: Donald and his wife Cheryl Westberg and Ronald Westberg and significant other Shelly all of Montesano; two daughters: Cindy McAlpin and Karen and husband Paul Larson all of Aberdeen; A step daughter: Nancy Berschauer of Olympia; three brothers: Frank and wife Bim Westberg of Arizona, Ray and wife Sharon Westberg of Olympia and Arnie and wife Pat Westberg of Bullhead City, AZ; Two sisters: Shirley Ashbaugh and Eileen Scott of Olympia; Nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Jack was also survived by his companion of 31 years, June Thompson of Aberdeen. Jack was preceded in death by his favorite dog Sadie. There will be a Potluck Gathering of Friends and Family on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 1-4 PM at the Aberdeen Eagles.
