Obituary
James R. Roberts, Jr., 58, Aberdeen resident and former Aberdeen VFW Post 224 Commander from 2010-2011 and Vietnam era veteran with the US Army, died Saturday evening, November 23, 2013 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. James was born on September 29, 1955 in Rantoul, Ill to James R. Sr. and Rosemary (Hires) Roberts. He joined the US Army in 1972 and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1975 and settled in Vancouver, WA. He lived there until 18 years ago when he moved to Everett and then to Aberdeen in 2002. While living in Vancouver he owned and operated Custom American Machines auto body shop. It was while he was in Vancouver that he met and fell in love with Lynn Dungan. She lives at the family home in Aberdeen. James worked doing home repair and maintenance. James also is a member and past Commander of the Aberdeen VFW, Post 224. He enjoyed fishing with his boys, driving his Camero and riding his Harley. But always looked forward to being with friends and family. James is survived by his companion of over 20 years, Lynn Dungan of Aberdeen; sons: Pfc Patrick Dungan of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and Brandon Roberts of Aberdeen; Daughter Sarah and husband Joel Due of Belfair, WA; Brothers: John Ludiker and David Roberts of Puyallup. James was preceded in death by a sister, Rae Deane Ludiker. There will be a time of visitation and viewing on Wednesday, December 4th from 1-8 PM in Fern Hill Funeral Home. A “graveside service” with military honors will take place on Thursday, December 5th, at 1:30 PM in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
