John Edward Persson of Ocosta Washington passed away on June 12, 2014 at 78 years old in Montesano Health and Rehab. John was born on January 6, 1936 in Aberdeen to Nathaniel and Doris Persson. On December 29, 1976, John married Laura Mae Walkowski in Reno, NV. She survives at the family home. John owned and operated a construction company, laying cable for the Phone Company and PUD with his wife Laura at his side as his #1 employee. John loved to travel, enjoying the comfort of a travel trailer after a long day of cruising the highways. Among his favorite destinations were the Alaskan Highway and snow birding in Arizona. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with friends. He will be missed by his family and friends and will live forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Laura Walkowski Persson, sons Tom, his wife Pam, and Kevin and wife Felicia, his step children Jerry Jacobson and Joyce Bell, grand children Nicole and Courtney Persson, JJ and Peter Keplinger, Mikayla and Luke Jacobsen, great granddaughter Anna, and nieces Dana and Heidi. John was preceded in death by his brother Alfred. The family will hold a celebration of John’s life on June 28th from 2-6pm at the Aberdeen Eagles, 208 W. Market St., Aberdeen, WA 98520.
