Margaret Isabell Hatfield, 94, a 56 year resident of the Wishkah Valley, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Bainbridge Island Health & Rehab. Margaret was born on November 20, 1919 in Olympia, WA to Ernest M. and Jessie Margaret (Modisett) Roberson. She grew up in Woodland, WA and graduated from Woodland High School in 1937. She then attended Behke0Walker Business College in Portland, OR and Washington State College in Pullman, WA. On August 10, 1943, Margaret married Robert Lewis Hatfield in Longview, WA. While Robert served in the US Navy, Margaret lived in Seattle, San Diego and Monterey, CA. He passed away on December 27, 2003. They moved to Westport, WA in 1946 and then to the Wishkah Valley, WA in 1948. Margaret had been a secretary for Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. in Longview, and after raising her children she worked at Grays Harbor College as a secretary from 1967 to 1979. Margaret was a member of Wishkah Valley Community Church, AFSCME Retirees, Wynooche Grange, Grays Harbor Genealogy Society and had belonged to the bowling league. She loved gardening, raising flowers, sports: golf and skiing, knitting, crochet, reading and spending time with family and friends. Margaret is survived by two sons: Steve Hatfield of Hudson Falls, NY; Doug and wife Eileen Hatfield of Bainbridge Island, WA, and a daughter, Evelyn and husband Randy Hansen of Shoreline, WA ; a brother John Arthur Roberson of Pullman, WA; Four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service for Margaret on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Noon in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen. A reception will follow in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Dorothy Mann Reception Hall.
