Mary Eager

Mary Martha (Muffy) Eager Muffy Eager passed away peacefully in her Wishkah Valley home with her family at her side on Dec.12, 2012. Muffy was born in Spokane, WA to her parents Bill and Mary Bea Sleeth on Aug. 5, 1953. She went to Holy Names Academy High School and then earned her teaching degree at Washington State University. She started her career as an elementary school teacher in Pomeroy, WA and then taught in Australia for two years. She began teaching at Wishkah Valley School in 1978 and continued there until her retirement in 2012. She met her husband and fellow teacher Bob Eager while teaching in Wishkah. They married July 5, 1980 and started their life together on the Eager Farm. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the family home in Wishkah Valley; two daughters and their spouses; Nicole and Jerome Stevens and Monica and Jesse Messerschmidt. Her son, Brian, preceded her in death and she is happy to meet him again in heaven. She was also the proud grandmother of her 1st granddaughter Bailey Messerschmidt. Other loving family members include her parents, sister, Molly (Lee) Windham, brothers, Bill (Mary Ann) & Paul (Laurin) Sleeth and many nieces & nephews. Muffy was a devoted mother and enjoyed spending time with her kids and family. The nurturing side of her personality shined in her role as teacher. She took pride in helping young children learn. She was also a devout Catholic and appreciated spending time in prayer at St. Mary’s Church in Aberdeen. On sunny days you could often find her working in her garden saying her catch phrase, “Come on sunshine!” The wake and funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 306 E. Third St., Aberdeen, WA 98520. The wake will be at 6 PM, Friday, December 14th. A funeral mass will take place Saturday, December 15th at Noon in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Wishkah Valley. A reception to follow at the Wishkah Valley Community Church, 4281 Wishkah Rd, Aberdeen. Rememberances may be made to The Feed the Hungry Program at St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the Renaissance Program at Wishkah Valley School, 4640 Wishkah Rd. Aberdeen, WA 98520. A message of condolence or of a memory can be left for the family at www.fernhillfuneral.com Arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.
